Complexity is not our pride, but great and efficient design is.
This is our moto, both in Catalysee and LearnWateryDesign. It's imprinted in my blood.
Who am I?
I am you. Just add 5 years of specific 3D, watery design skills, experience and knowledge, with a bonus of psychology development and high performance habits. I've been through a lot. I gain some successes, worked with my dream team, and also I've been deeply burned out. It took me a long time to recover fully. I made some terrible choices and learned from it all, but also it lead me to one of the best decisions in my life. Life changing ones.
Through all these years I've been researching and testing all of it on my own skin. I found that simple shifts in mindset, habits and workflow itself, can deliver huge difference in overall project and life success. When I look back, it makes me grateful for all the struggle I had to come through. All the deep, black and lonely road I have taken to find the best workflow and habits that fulfills both, work and life itself. The best practice with design, the best mindset and deep values. All of it continue to grow. I continue to find new better things. And now I know, it's much more efficient and strong when you start on the right foot.
Eventually I thought about you. I feel responsibility to give all of the best I can give to save you those 5 years of struggle. You don't have to struggle. Not anymore. Don't underestimate hard work though.
Hard work is necessary, but it doesn't have to be a struggle. When your mindset is set right, it fuels hard work to gain you inevitable success.
I though what could have saved me from struggle 5 years ago and bring all of the actions a level up. I thought of you. How could I help you to save all these years of the struggle? This question and responsibility kept me awake at nights for almost two years. And finally I decided to develop a system. LearnWateryDesign system.
I know how hard it is to find answers to specific questions, such as how to make your simulation run faster or how to intergate 3D design into real life footage and much more. The worst thing ever is to listen to countless different lessons and still can't seem to connect it all together or find an answer you were looking for. It is time consuming at the very least. You could be building your skills instead.
That's why I've created LearnWateryDesign, to give you things that you MUST know in order to be successful in watery design and even beyond this. And I created it as a system, with specific topics/categories and separated short lessons inside of each one of them, so you could not only build knowledge gradually, but could easily go back to any of these in order to recap or find quick answers. With LearnWateryDesign you'll have things you MUST know arranged in categories and lessons from 3min to 22min so you will have enough space to BUILD actual skills. And if you want to go more detailed there are lessons and case studies building up to 77min per each.
No more unnecessary consuming. More creating. More results.
Left to our own devices we would be procastinating, unfulfilled by our lifestyle and not doing the work we actually desire to do. Simply because there are so many bits and pieces of various information out there! And just so little time to consume it all! Don't get me wrong. Not that the information out there is inherently worng. There's nothing wrong with it. But you need to take action to connect it and find ONLY the things you actually need. And this takes time.
Knowledge without action equalls nothing.
Action triumphs hope. Action vs Consuming. In LearnWateryDesign we take action. You are given what you NEED in order to have enough space to DO the work. To build skills. To take action. To share. Explore and fulfill your ideas into your own designs or animations. In addition to this, we share references and work in progress in LWDesign library and I'm giving you new pictures/ videos every month to keep you inspired. But that is all about LearnWateryDesign, and you can find out more about it here. Before any of this, I want to share with you behind the WHY:
Why did I create concept of watery design and what is it?
Watery Design is a concept I made for two, very important reasons:
1. firstly, I wanted to create a precise definition in order to
free your hands from doing the technical work ONLY and help you to focus on the overall design. Design, which contains fluid simulations. Simply, because you are creative and not a technician.
This issue has been overlooked, or being mumbled about silently behind the scenes. There are lots of creative people working with all kinds of technical tasks, frustrated by the ever changing tasks, unpredictable final results/looks, and disappointing lack of self-expression. Not to make everything black and white, there's always exceptions and there are always people who are okay with this. However, I'm turning to you, who care about the design, who wants to be treated like professional and wants to act like one by making strong decisions for the direction of the simulation and/or the final looks of it.
Watery Design is design based on 3D fluid simulations, real life fluids or both combined.
It contains either strong direction of the simulation or the whole process from a to z where you direct the looks, animatics and final render cut. Watery Design in general sense is already widely used throughout all commercial field and sometimes even movies (especial titles). It is contained mainly with the small or middle scale fluids, such as wine or at least wavy surface. I've been researching for last 5 years and it's very obvious that its need is growing. It used to be more of a food/ drinks industry commercials and of course big screen oceans and visual effects. However, in the last few years all kind of companies started to witness the power of Watery Design: it is so natural, so dynamic and yet can be used to bring the message, different forms, shapes and motion that you could see in real life, making them photo-realistic and 'too good to be true' kind of thing. You can see big brands turning their focus on liquids. One of the recent great commercials was made by great company The Mill - Sky -Sky Q . Also to point out minimal and dark style, FutureDeluxe created beauty watery design in Nividia - Titanium commercial. In addition to this, there's an example of small scale fluids by Trizz Studio - ARIEL AMBROSIA and middle scale fluids Brita - Drink Amazing , client Clorox | USA. And my personal favorite for all times KORB - INFINITY WATER case study, you can check some fluids in 02 REFRESH and FOX SPORTS 1 too. The bottom line is, watery design has drawn the attention and is still growing to the peak. Also, watery design can look nothing like fluid in the end result: it can still have dynamic fluidish motion or form, but its material is made of metal, wood or any other surface.
Watery Design has infinite possibilities to express the design and bring the message in the most dynamic, fulfilling way.
However, most of the projects right now are done by bigger companies or design studios. Thankfully, it's becoming more and more affordable for even individuals to create top notch quality work, watery design included. It's becoming more and more available for each one of us, both financially, intellectually and in terms of speed (time efficient). It's extremely important to be able to create work in thinner deadlines, be flexible and yet stand strong in values and for the best design that serves the projects purpose. Software is becoming more user friendly and faster, which allows us to have more space to create actual design. Therefore, there's NOTHING that can stop us now. We can work towards better quality level of Watery Design and this way make it more attractive, fulfilled and intensely used in our field. We can drop the technical tasks only, because, hey, this is not for us to do in the first place. It's time to be in charge for our own decisions and take responsibility to bring our best skills AND creativity, combined. There comes second reason of why I created Watery Design definition:
2. to bring the awareness of important DESIGN part: in creating fluid simulations, work related to it and integrating real life fluids.
It is time to bring up the quality level and intensity of watery design in our industry.
It's time for us to step the game up. To care about the design. And when you show up 100% for this, be sure you're creating some huge important change. As soon as we have more 3D artists care about the design itself and fluent workflow, we'll have different requests and face of a project offered for each one of us. Not only this, but amping up the levels of your creativity, your style, and focusing on the professional design practice, it will help you to finally fulfill your purpose, create amazing design, and also contribute to the quality and level of Watery Design out there. This is essential for us and for the purpose of the best work we can give. So if we are given enough space to create and take responsibility for the best design decision, collaborate and join whenever and however it's the best for it all, in the end we designers will grow harder, better, faster, stronger. Like in the song. But it's true. And our 3D motion design industry will grow with us. We would do the work we can do the best, and projects would not get stuck into never ending miscommunication or forced deadlines. No one benefits out of it. No one benefits out of you doing the technical tasks only, when you could bring better solution on the table and make team, client, client's customers and yourself more satisfied and happy. This is productive at the very least.
Keeping in mind that visual effects and 3D design is merging more and more now, we'll be playing a big part in the whole shaping of new ERA in both, Watery Design and 3D design world.
In addition to all of this, I see so many folks, who are dying to express themselves with fluid simulations to the fullest, to make actual design out of it, watery design. That's why I'm stepping up for you, to give a hand up. And trust me, there's nothing on this Earth in work that could cheer my heart more, than you being successful with your Watery Design along with us. Being happy and contributing to our industry with beautiful, professional work.
BE in charge for strong values, design and your own inevitable success.
Thanks for showing up.
